You are probably one of the 9 out of 10 households that make this mistake with their electric kettle

Do you really have to empty all the water every time?

One might think it’s more hygienic to throw everything away after use… and yet! Completely emptying the kettle each time can weaken certain internal parts, especially if the appliance is then switched on empty.

The best compromise : leave a small amount of water in the bottom after use. This prevents sudden temperature changes and protects the components. Of course, remember to empty it before adding fresh water for the next use. It’s a bit like leaving a little sauce in a pan: it prevents things from sticking!

Limescale: the silent enemy of your kettle
Over time, a thin white layer (the infamous limescale) builds up. This can alter the taste of your water… and slow down the heating process, as the heating element has to work harder.

Fortunately, the solution is at hand:
→ Fill the kettle with a mixture of half water and half white vinegar.
→ Heat until boiling, let it sit for 10 minutes.
→ Empty, rinse thoroughly, and dry.

Repeat this process once a month, or more often if you live in an area with hard water. The result? A kettle that looks brand new, without any effort or chemicals!
